This prestigious Award provides an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the unsung champions of records, information and archives management — and related fields — across South Australia, including state, federal and local government sectors; hospital and health services; educational institutions; libraries, galleries and museums; local history groups; historical societies; cultural heritage organisations; religious and charitable bodies; community and regional organisations; volunteer groups; and not-for-profit organisations.
📝 About the Award: Established in honour of the late Bernadette Bean, the Award recognises individuals and teams who demonstrate dedication, leadership, service excellence, and innovation in:

- Archives management
- Library, history, museum and cultural heritage collections management.
The Award acknowledges those whose exemplary efforts strengthen governance, accountability, digital transformation, service delivery, preservation and access to organisational, community, regional and State memory. It shines a light on best practice and innovation, and recognises the outstanding individuals and teams shaping the future of organisational systems, collections, cultural heritage stewardship and access to our shared past.
Areas of Excellence: We invite nominations of eligible individuals and teams who have delivered — or are working towards — measurable impact, best practice and continuous improvement in areas such as:
✅ Strengthening capture, governance, management, preservation, digitisation and digital access frameworks, policies and practices.
✅ Advancing technologies and digital transformation, including ECM, EDRMS, imaging, archives and collection management systems, workflow automation, digital dashboards and AI-enabled solutions.
✅ Leading organisational change; demonstrating exceptional teamwork; sharing knowledge; mentoring staff; building capability; managing projects; conducting research; developing innovative solutions; and contributing to organisational or sector-wide improvement.
Nominations are welcomed from eligible practitioners at all career stages — including emerging professionals, established leaders, quiet achievers, effective teams, promising students, volunteers, retired professionals, and current dedicated records and information management practitioners, archivists, librarians, historians, museum professionals, cultural heritage custodians, and researchers.
⭐ Award Endorsement: The Bernadette Bean Award is endorsed and supported by the Records and Information Management Practitioners Alliance (RIMPA Global), reflecting its alignment with professional standards, its commitment to honouring exemplary efforts, and its role in advancing industry practice and innovation.
